Taking care of your nutrition after birth to...
Better healing and recovery
Your body needs to recover physically from pregnancy and birth. It needs to rebuild its strength and consume the nutrients that support its tissues and bones. Eating well, staying hydrated and getting all the essential nutrients is the key to recovery.
Replenishing nutrient stores
After pregnancy, your body has a great deal of work to do to replenish depleted nutrients, heal after labour, and produce breast milk to feed your baby if that is your wish. When these nutrients are not replaced, postnatal depletion can occur.
Feel more at ease
Many essential nutrients, or compounds derived from them, are needed for the synthesis and modulation of neurotransmitters. They can therefore be involved in mood regulation. Although diet is not the sole cause of depression, paying attention to your post-partum diet — in particular your DHA intake — may help reduce the risk and support your wellbeing.
