Vitamin B9 is an essential vitamin, yet 75% of pregnant women in France have an insufficient intake (ELFE study).

The importance of vitamin B9
Folic acid supplementation increases maternal methylated folate (5-mthf) status.
A low methylated folate (5-mthf) status in the mother increases the risk of neural tube defects in the developing foetus.*

It is recommended to supplement with vitamin B9 at 400 μg per day, starting at least one month before conception and continuing until 3 months after conception. This is in addition to a varied and balanced diet — it does not replace dietary intake, as the total recommended daily intake is 600 µg per day during pregnancy.

Folates are found in our diet, particularly in green leafy vegetables, fruit, pulses, liver and nutritional yeast. However, folates from food sources are not very stable — they are sensitive to light and heat. In their natural state, they can be lost by up to 30% during food processing, depending on the cooking method used.
For example, steaming fruit and vegetables causes virtually no loss, unlike boiling in water.
Studies also show that foods contain fewer and fewer vitamins and minerals than they used to. For instance, pollution reduces the concentration of B vitamins in food.
ANSES has shown that even with an optimised diet, it is not sufficient to meet requirements during pregnancy and conception. It is systematically recommended to take B9 supplements for at least 4 weeks before conception and up to 8 weeks after.

Each gummy contains 500 µg of folates. Our pregnancy snack Vanifique is enriched with vitamin B9 from a spinach extract, and provides 400 µg. The safe upper limit is 1000 µg per day. One gummy or one snack is enough to cover your intake, so we recommend alternating — one day our chewable gummies, the next a snack, depending on what you fancy!

The daily dose of pregnancy vitamins (Baby Bump, bump essentials, bump powder) provides an intake of 400 µg of folates in the form of 5-methyltetrahydrofolate (Quatrefolic®). These food supplements allow you to meet your needs with a form that is also directly active and readily absorbed by the body; therefore, it is not necessary to take our pregnancy gummies at the same time as a multivitamin food supplement.

Je ne regrette absolument pas mon achat. Je suis très satisfaite du format gummies, en effet, cela fait 3 ans que nous sommes en essai bébé, et je trouvais ma routine acide folique très très ennuyeuse. Au moins, avec ces gummies, je trouve un peu de plaisir dans ce parcours du combattant. Je ressens aussi qu'il doit y avoir une formule plus puissante (mes ongles sont extrêmement forts et ne cassent plus, peut-être qu'il y a un rapport ?).
