This spice from India contains an active compound called curcumin, which may help reduce period pain [1]. When combined with black pepper, its absorption is significantly enhanced.

We also love saffron, whose emmenagogue function and its action on the regulation of certain stress hormones (such as cortisol) improve comfort during and before periods. Studies have also highlighted a positive effect on mood before and during periods. It appears to be particularly indicated for relieving premenstrual syndrome [2][3].

Certain minerals such as magnesium, a natural antispasmodic, are particularly beneficial in cases of painful periods, as well as being vital for our health and hormonal balance. Some studies have shown that magnesium may contribute to a significant reduction in the intensity and duration of premenstrual syndrome (mood changes, anxiety, depression, bloating, breast pain, water retention..)[4]. Bleeding during periods is accompanied by a significant loss of nutrients, which can leave us feeling tired. During your period, think about using plants rich in vitamins and minerals, such as nettle. You can consume it in any form you like: as a concentrate, an infusion, or a condiment.
