FAQ on pregnancy snacks

Our pregnancy snacks are all enriched with essential vitamins and minerals for pregnancy. They are designed to meet the needs of pregnant women. 

Vanifique provides the dose of vitamin B9 (folic acid, folates) recommended by doctors, in the form most readily absorbed by the body. This vitamin B9 is essential for your baby's health and contributes to reducing the risk of neural tube defects. As an alternative, our pregnancy gummies also cover vitamin B9 needs. 

Croquantissime is enriched with iron, in bisglycinate form, which is well absorbed and tolerated by the body. Iron requirements are high during pregnancy, to meet the baby's increased demand for oxygen. As a capsule alternative, our iron supplement for pregnant women helps to meet your needs. 

Our broonies are rich in magnesium, an essential nutrient that almost all of us are deficient in, and which is vital for your baby's healthy development. Another alternative: our capsules of magnesium bisglycinate Mama-gnésium. 

Banana glow provides collagen, the body's structural protein, found notably in the uterus. It contributes to skin elasticity and hydration, which may help reduce stretch marks. Other indulgent alternatives: our range of collagen food supplement in powder form. 

They are also beneficial in cases of nausea, as they provide fibre and protein that help stabilise blood sugar levels and reduce the risk of nausea. It is also advisable to eat small, frequent snacks rather than large meals. 

They have nothing in common with the cereal bars you find in shops. First and foremost, they are wholesome — they contain no refined sugars, unlike most bars which are packed with them. The recipe is based on healthy fats (nut butters), protein (from the butters, seeds, and oats), and unprocessed whole foods (hazelnuts, flaxseeds, sunflower seeds), and more. They are not baked, as cooking reduces the nutrient content of ingredients. On top of that, each recipe is enriched with nutrients at doses equivalent to those found in food supplements. A 2-in-1 snack, good for your health thanks to its ingredients and nutrient enrichment. 

They are also perfectly suited to the postpartum period! Don't hesitate to pop them in your hospital bag. They are compatible with breastfeeding. During breastfeeding, nutritional needs are also high, so eating these bars can help you meet your requirements — particularly for DHA, which is essential for the healthy development of a breastfed baby, as well as for supporting the mother's brain health. 

They are not made with pure sugar, white sugar, sugar syrup, and so on. They contain a small amount of agave syrup (except the brownies, which are 100% free from added sugars), along with naturally occurring sugars found in ingredients such as chocolate, hazelnuts, almonds and cacao. They are also rich in fibre and protein, which are beneficial for blood sugar balance, as well as healthy fats. These are not products loaded with sugar and empty-calorie ingredients — they only provide beneficial nutrients that support your health.

It depends on each pregnant woman and the severity of the diabetes. Our pregnancy snacks contain a small amount of agave syrup, and sugars naturally present in the ingredients (chocolate, hazelnuts, etc.). They are not loaded with sugar. We recommend checking the nutritional table carefully and consuming them in line with your own guidelines. In general, for mild, controlled gestational diabetes, they can be consumed.

Each of our bars is compatible with taking a pregnancy food supplement such as Baby Bump, Bump Essentials and Bump Powder, with no risk of overdose. Regarding the use of other supplements, this needs to be assessed on a case-by-case basis. The Vanifique product provides 400 µg of vitamin B9 (folates) (do not exceed 1000 µg per day), and the Croquantissime snack provides 7 mg of iron (the dose depends on each individual, but it is best not to exceed 14 mg without medical advice). The magnesium Broonies and the Banana Glow collagen snack are compatible regardless of the supplement being taken.

"Eating for two" during pregnancy is the most widespread myth. Energy requirements are generally the same as those of non-pregnant women during the first trimester, and then increase throughout pregnancy, to around 270 kcal and 500 kcal per day during the second and third trimesters, respectively. These energy requirements vary considerably, however, depending on age, BMI, and activity level. Caloric intake should therefore be individualised based on these factors.

The goal is not to eat twice as much, but twice as well, to ensure you get all the essential nutrients for a healthy pregnancy. 

There are several snacks that mamas can enjoy to curb cravings while also being good for their health. We particularly think of: 

To nuts and seeds (walnuts, cashews, Brazil nuts, etc.). Enjoy on their own or with Greek yoghurt or skyr. 

To fruit (bananas, apples, etc.).  

To wholegrain bread (avoiding white bread, which is high in sugar), topped with healthy fats (avocado, hummus, etc.). 

To protein smoothies made with fruit and protein powder (protein requirements are high during pregnancy and breastfeeding, and protein is beneficial for blood sugar levels). 

All these snacks will help you recharge your energy. There are savoury and sweet options to satisfy every mama's cravings.

More than just cereal bars, these are healthy snacks for cravings and are packed with nutrients to support the health of both mum and baby. Made from organic ingredients and produced in France, there is something for every taste: chocolate, hazelnuts, almonds, vanilla, cacao, and more. They are all vegan, except for the Banana Glow recipe which contains marine collagen. 

They do not contain milk or cow's milk proteins.
