Your questions, our answers.

You can drink a raspberry leaf herbal tea from week 32 onwards, or as recommended by your midwife.
The use of raspberry leaf is not universally agreed upon during the first two trimesters of pregnancy, due to its still poorly understood effect on uterine contractility. Some authors suggest it may help with nausea and prevent miscarriage in the first trimester, but given the lack of data in this regard, taking the herbal tea at this stage of pregnancy would not be considered safe — nor during the second trimester — so as not to prematurely encourage uterine activity.

It is compatible with taking a pregnancy food supplement.

Due to its effect on blood circulation, there is an increased risk of bleeding following a caesarean section. Do not drink raspberry leaf tea before a planned caesarean section. If an unplanned caesarean section is imminent, stop consuming it.

Raspberry leaf (Rubus idaeus) use in pregnancy: a prospective observational study. 2024.

Raspberry leaf tea has a naturally very pleasant, slightly tart flavour.

No, it is caffeine-free.

The benefits of raspberry leaf tea are mainly linked to its natural richness in tannins and minerals, making it a traditional infusion appreciated for supporting women during certain stages of their lives, particularly before and after pregnancy. It is also enjoyed simply as a herbal tea with a mild, plant-based flavour.

Yes, raspberry leaf herbal tea can be consumed outside of pregnancy, like any plant-based infusion. It is often chosen for its pleasant taste and natural composition, but its use remains primarily a personal wellness choice and does not replace a balanced diet or the advice of a healthcare professional.

The difference between whole raspberry leaf, cut raspberry leaf, and capsules comes down mainly to form and use: whole or cut leaves are intended to be steeped to make a raspberry leaf herbal tea, whereas capsules offer a more concentrated and convenient form to consume. The choice depends on personal preferences and consumption habits.

Raspberry leaf tea is generally consumed 1 to 3 cups per day, depending on individual habits and tolerance. As with any herbal infusion, it is advisable to listen to your body and, if necessary, seek advice from a healthcare professional, particularly during pregnancy or breastfeeding.

Raspberry leaf tea is generally considered safe during breastfeeding when consumed in reasonable amounts (1 to 2 cups per day). However, as every woman is different, it is preferable to seek advice from a midwife or healthcare professional before incorporating it into your breastfeeding routine.
